SMOKING CESSATION PROJECT SUPPORTED WITH PATIENTXT 

 

System use:

The team has been successfully using Patientxt – Web since January 2004, as an additional level of communication and support to patients. The system is used to schedule 6 messages throughout the year that contain messages of support to patients. The messages also request the patient to reply with their smoking status via the two way text reply path function. All status replies are sent to respective team members email addresses.

 

Conclusion:

The system is easy to use, delivers the messages quickly and is a cost effective means of getting in touch with patients The system also provides a link

back into the service for patient who may have stopped the program, with the reply path number able to receive enquiry texts.

Patientxt Tips:

Ensure mobile numbers are collected and get patient consent to receive the texts. Make them aware an opt out function is available on all messages sent out.
